💜 Play It Forward: Supporting Friends with Dignity

September 15, 2026 - 28 days ago

It’s time for another Play It Forward donation, and this season our community has chosen Friends with Dignity as our charity partner.

For those who haven’t heard about Play It Forward, here’s how it works:

Every season, a portion of every Urban Rec Australia registration goes into a community fund. At the end of the season, our League Champions and our Fun Points Champions get to decide where that money goes by voting for a charity partner.

This season, they chose Friends with Dignity, an incredible organisation supporting adults and children rebuilding their lives after escaping domestic and family violence.

Through practical support, financial assistance, essential household items, education programs and scholarships, Friends with Dignity helps create safety, stability and dignity for people who need it most.

Thanks to every team that got involved this season, we're incredibly proud to donate $2,238 to support their work. 💜

One of the things we love most about Play It Forward is that it's driven by our community. Winning your league or topping the Fun Points ladder doesn't just earn you bragging rights – it gives you the opportunity to help make a real difference.

A huge thank you to every Urban Rec member who contributes to initiatives like this simply by showing up and playing each week.

Social sport can do a lot more than bring people together on the field. 💜

Spring Spots Won't Last. Priority Registration Opens Soon.

August 3, 2026 - 2 months ago

Winter isn't even over yet, but if you've played with Urban Rec before, you already know what happens next… Spring arrives... everyone decides it's time to get active again... and suddenly leagues start selling out.

Our Spring season is the biggest of the year, and every season we have teams who miss out simply because they waited too long.

That's exactly why we created Priority Registration.

If your team played with us this season, you'll get exclusive early access before registrations open to the public, giving you the best chance to secure your preferred league, venue and timeslot.

---

📅 Priority Registration

🗓 Opens: Tuesday 1 September | 12:00pm

🗓 Closes: Tuesday 8 September | 11:59pm

Once Priority Registration closes, every remaining spot will be released to the public.

If history tells us anything... they won't last long.

---

💰 Be One Of The First Five Teams...

We're rewarding the quickest captains again this season.

The first five teams to complete their registration will each receive $250 cashback on their registration.

No draws.

No luck.

Just be quick.

---

🎉 Register During Priority Registration & You Could Also Win...

Even if you're not one of the first five teams, registering during Priority Registration automatically puts your team in the running for some great extras.

🍔 Grill'd Burger Pack

One lucky team will also score 8 burger vouchers from Grill'd at Erina, because every team deserves a victory feed... even if you don't win many games.

---

🏆 Prize Summary

✅ First 5 fully registered teams: $250 Cashback

✅ All teams registered during Priority Registration (deposit or paid in full): Entry into the draw for 8 Grill'd Burger Vouchers

---

🚨 Don't Miss Out

To be eligible for any prizes, your team must register between 1 September and 8 September.

To claim one of the $250 Cashback rewards, your team registration must be paid in full, as these prizes are awarded to the first five completed registrations.

---

The Bottom Line...

Every Spring, teams tell us:

"We thought we'd register next week..."

Unfortunately, by then, some leagues are already full.

So get the group chat going, remind your captain, set an alarm for 12:00pm on Tuesday 1 September, and lock your team in before everyone else does.

Spring is our biggest season. Make sure you're part of it. 🌸

Play It Forward: Every Game You Play Makes a Difference

January 20, 2026 - 9 months ago

At Urban Rec, we love a good game. 🏐🏀🏉
But what really fires us up? Making a difference. 💙

That’s exactly why we created Play It Forward, our epic Australia-wide charity initiative that turns every single registration into a chance to do some real good in the world. Yep, just by playing sport, you’re already part of something bigger. 🙌

Each season, we spotlight four incredible charities. These aren’t just any causes, they’re organisations our members genuinely care about, from grassroots community support right here at home to health and environmental initiatives making waves on a bigger scale. 🌱🫶

And here’s the best part 👀
You decide where the donation goes.

At the end of the season, the winning Captains, both league champs and fun point legends, get the ultimate power move: choosing which of the four charities receives the donation. So every game, every laugh, every bit of banter actually counts for something meaningful. 🏆✨

---

🔄 How It Works

📝 Register a Team

Every registration automatically contributes a portion of the fee to the Play It Forward campaign. No extra steps, no add-ons. It’s built in and effortless.

---

🎽 Play Your Season

Get stuck in! Win games, rack up those fun points, bring the vibes, and lead your team with style 😎
All of it contributes to who earns the right to choose the charity at season’s end.

---

🏅 Winning Captains Choose the Charity

When the season wraps up, our league champions and top fun point Captains get to decide which charity receives the funds. Competitive? Yes. Meaningful? Even more so. Because it’s your team, your season, your choice.

---

💥 Impact Made

The chosen charity receives a donation raised from your season’s registrations, helping them continue their important work. Just like that, your games don’t just build skills, friendships, and legendary post-game chats, they create real-world impact.

---

❤️ More Than a Game

Play It Forward isn’t just a campaign. It’s proof that sport can be more than friendly competition, it can be a force for good. By putting the power in our members’ hands, we’re making the impact personal… and let’s be honest, winning feels even sweeter when it’s for a great cause 😉

We can’t wait to see what we can achieve together, season after season, right here in Newcastle and beyond 🌊⚡
